Guided tour through the IFSC
Following the public meeting in Liberty Hall, Attac Ireland together with Housing Action Now will be leading a walking tour through the Irish Financial Services Sector. The tour will highlight key companies involved in the murky world of finance, tax avoidance and property speculation in Ireland.
Attac-Ireland believes that multinationals should pay their fair share of taxes. The Luxembourg Leaks (or LuxLeaks) have revealed that they do not. They hire expensive accountancy firms to negotiate secret tax deals with the tax authorities of countries such as Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the UK or Ireland, thereby reducing the amount of taxes they have to pay. This is legal, but it has serious consequences, as citizens end up paying the price, in extra taxes and cuts in public services.
