Mission Statement

Attac Ireland is the Irish branch of the international organisation Attac. Attac was founded in France in 1998 to combat the power of the financial sector and of multinational corporations, which we see as a threat to democracy, to economic equality and to environmental sustainability.

Attac Ireland believes in the democratic control of public financing; it opposes austerity and the socialization of private debt. It works to disarm the financial markets, to put the banking sector under public control and to democratize decision-making at all levels.

Attac Ireland stands in solidarity with those struggling for social justice throughout the world.
